Pool Removal Adelaide
Removing a pool means draining it to sewer rather than the street, disconnecting the pump and power, breaking up or lifting out the shell, then filling and compacting the hole. Check the approval question before any of that: South Australia treats taking the whole pool out differently from leaving part of it in the ground, and Adelaide councils word the answer differently.

- Each enquiry goes to one independent provider for Adelaide, not to a list of firms that all ring you.
- We do not remove pools. The provider inspects, then names the price.
- We state the rule and its source, and say so when the councils disagree.

Four things to know first
- Taking the whole pool out is not leaving part in South Australia's regulations take the demolition of the whole of a building out of the definition of development, except for a local heritage place or a building in a zone or overlay the Planning and Design Code identifies. Partial demolition is outside that exclusion.
- Adelaide councils word approval differently The City of Marion says demolishing a structure in its entirety does not need development approval unless it is a heritage place. The City of Mitcham lists removing an existing pool or spa among the work that needs development approval. Ask your council.
- The pool water goes to sewer, not the street The EPA lists pool backwash water and pool chemicals among the things that must not reach the stormwater system, and the City of Marion says pool water should be directed to sewer.
- Pump, power and drains are registered work In South Australia, disconnecting drains is plumbing and work on an electrical installation is electrical work. Each is for a worker registered for it.

Pool Removal across Adelaide
Tell us the pool type, how a machine would reach the backyard and what you want the ground to be afterwards. We pass the enquiry to one local provider, who quotes on it. The State rules and fees that can apply are on the costs page, each linked to the government page it comes from and dated. A council permit for a skip bin is its own lead time: Campbelltown City Council asks for 14 days' notice and public liability cover of A$10,000,000.
